Little more than 10 minutes to the east of Place Stanislas is the Nancy-Pulnoy golf-course, set in a wooded area of hills and lakes.
Created in 1993, the Nancy-Pulnoy public golf-course had a clear ambition, to democratise the sport while adhering to the criteria for excellence of France’s best greens.
Of 540 golf courses in France, Nancy-Pulnoy golf course is one of 21 belonging to the NGF (New Golf Courses of France) network, whose motto is “Golf for all” and whose members are, in the words of its director, the number-one “creators of golfers”. It has certainly achieved what it set out to do, as today the club is enjoyed by golfers of all ages and backgrounds, with 1,200 licensed members, 600 of whom play regularly.
In accordance with this strategy of openness, the Nancy-Pulnoy golf course organises two Open Door sessions per year, and provides coaching at a national level recognised as being of a very high quality.
Foreign tourists staying in the region - particularly the Dutch and the Brits - are frequent visitors and simply need to book a teeing-off time and pay the green fee.
In addition to its proximity to the city-centre’s shops, services and cultural attractions, the Nancy-Pulnoy golf course is a pleasant place for golfers and non-golfers alike with a specialist shop, an acclaimed bar and restaurant and a large outdoor seating area overlooking the course.
THE ESSENTIALS: A GREEN AND AN ACADEMY
With 120 young players and ranked number 16 in the national classification of golf academies, the French Golf Federation has awarded it the status of one of 20 pilot academies. The school, a veritable hotbed of young talent as a result of its educational and sporting dynamism, is open to children aged 7 to 18.
