Accessibility

Sound beacons and guides:

These consist of beacons at each of the Tourist Office’s entrances and in the reception which broadcast an oral message in digital sound that:
      - informs unsighted people they are near the Office;
      - guides unsighted people inside the Office to help them find the reception desk.

The user triggers the message using his or her remote-control the size of a matchbox. (In Nancy, sound beacons are also in use at a number of traffic lights and at tram-stops.)

Touch Maps :

Maps in relief or in Braille on an A3 format trackpad linked to a multimedia computer: when a site on the aid is clicked on, related information is broadcast for unsighted people, and visual information displayed on the computer screen for poorly sighted people.

In addition to the significant amount of data this tool contains (up to fifteen levels of information), the system is remarkably easy to use and is easily accessed by all (unsighted, hearing-impaired, people not speaking the language...).

Audio-T System

This system improves the quality of the information given. In the Office, the receptionist speaks into a microphone and his/her voice is transmitted directly to the hearing impaired person, either through a receiver-amplifier or by magnetic loop if the user has a compatible hearing aid.

Large scale map of Nancy for the poorly sighted

A simplified, magnified, high contrast map of Nancy city centre will be available in the Reception Office in the near future.

The Office has also made two wheelchairs available for disabled members of the public and those with reduced mobility.

The Tourist Office has also organised a series of circuits and special events suitable for people with various disabilities.
